Hedgeapple Gardens is led by Molly Phemister, garden and food forest designer, author, speaker, and educator with more than two decades of professional experience helping people understand how landscapes actually work.

Molly holds a Master of Landscape Architecture and a Master of Education, is a Certified Arborist with the International Society of Arboriculture, and has spent her career translating complex ecological systems into practical, doable skills for everyday gardeners.

Molly was the founding executive director of Nebraska’s first publicly accessible food forest, work that earned recognition in Who’s Who in America. She has taught workshops for the USDA, presented at the Nebraska Sustainable Agriculture Society conference, and served as both a lecturer in landscape architecture at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and an extension educator with the Indigenous Food Sovereignty Project’s Youth Garden program.

Through Hedgeapple Gardens, Molly teaches homeowners and community groups how to design edible landscapes that produce food, support pollinators and birds, and function as living ecosystems. Her approach, and her courses, emphasize perennial crops, ecological design, and long-term garden planning, helping students build landscapes that grow more productive every year rather than starting from scratch each spring.
